Kreg Eckert is in his second season as the Huntington women's tennis coach as well as the director of tennis for both the men's and women's programs.
Under Eckert's leadership last year, the Foresters posted nine wins, the program's highest win total since 2019-20. His athletes also earned an All-League honor and four NAIA Scholar Athlete accolades in 2024-25.
Eckert brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to the position, which includes most recently serving as an assistant for the HU men's tennis program. During his four-year stretch as an assistant, he was tabbed the 2021 East Regional ITA Assistant Coach of the Year.
No stranger to campus, he also spent nine years as the head coach of the Huntington men's program during which he amassed 72 wins and guided the Foresters to a Crossroads League regular season title in 2013. Eighteen times his players earned All-Conference honors in addition to garnering 13 NAIA Scholar Athlete praises.
His coaching resume also includes serving as the head coach at Bethalto Community High School prior to jumping into college coaching.
Eckert graduated from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale City with a BS in Geology in 1983. He recently retired from Tennant Company after 25 years of service. He and his wife Angi reside in Roanoke. Their four adult kids Justin, Jessica, Isaac and Anna are all Indiana residents as well.
