Ginder and Kollen some of nation’s best

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its baseball All-American teams and among the 68 athletes honored were HU graduate Langston Ginder and sophomore Graham Kollen.

The pair were just two of four Crossroads League players to earn All-American honors.

Ginder saved his best for last and for his efforts was tabbed Second Team All-American. The second baseman pounded out 71 hits, 31 for extra bases which included a team-leading 15 homers. He posted a .360 batting average and .685 slugging percentage.

The Huntertown native (Carroll HS) drove in a league-best 68 runs. He swiped 36 bases this spring and came around to score 65 times.

As the Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year, Kollen earned a spot on the Honorable Mention All-American Team. The 6-3 hurler posted a 2.84 ERA on his way to notching eight wins on the season.

The Fort Wayne native (Homestead HS) racked up a league-leading 94 strikeouts this season while surrendering just 68 hits, 28 runs, only 26 of which are earned, and 26 walks in 82.1 innings pitched. He limited opponents to a .227 batting average while averaging 10.28 strikeouts per nine.

The Foresters set a new program record for wins in a season with 38. HU's overall record was 38-16 which included a 27-9 league record good for second in the league.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 125 NAIA All-America honors and 449 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
