Foresters suffer 3-0 road loss to Taylor

UPLAND, Ind. - For the second consecutive match, the Huntington men's soccer team (7-4-0, 0-2-0) couldn't find back netting to suffer a 3-0 loss to Taylor Wednesday night at Turner Stadium. It's the Trojans' first win over HU since 2018.

TU (3-4-4, 1-0-1) held a slight advantage in shots taken, 24-22, but the difference came by way of finishing. The hosts scored within the first eight minutes of play to force Lawson and crew to chase the lead all evening without success. The Trojans doubled their advantage with just over 20 minutes remaining and then added another goal in the final three minutes.

Seventeen of Huntington's 22 shots happened in the first half while Taylor returned the favor after intermission with 17 shots of their own in the second period.

"As a team, we weren't good enough tonight," said Coach Russ Lawson. "We struggled to capitalize on our chances in both halves and Taylor did. We will regroup, stick together and move forward for Mount Vernon on Saturday."

Kick-off against the Cougars is slated for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
