Huntington blanked by #4 Grace

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Huntington men's soccer team was blanked by #4 Grace (12-2-1, 6-0-1) Saturday night 3-0 at King Stadium. It was nothing new for the Lancers, currently sitting atop the league, as eight of their 12 wins this season have been shutouts.

The visitors found back netting for the first time at the 21:46 mark. The hosts came knocking with seven minutes left in the first half when Tiago Costa, who had just entered the contest, slotted the keeper for what would have been the equalizer. Unfortunately he was whistled for offsides to negate the goal, sending him and his team into halftime empty-handed at 1-0.

Less than seven minutes into the second period, HU gave up an own goal and two minutes later the Lancers added another insurance goal to put the game out of reach despite Huntington's best effort to get at least one back.

The Foresters gave up just five shots on the night, but unfortunately the Lancers made the most of their opportunities having scored on three of their four shots on goal. At the other end of the pitch, HU generated nine shots, seven of which were on frame.

With two games left in the regular season, Huntington (5-7-4) is sixth in the CL standings with a 2-4-1 record. Lawson and crew wrap up conference play by heading to IWU on Wednesday and then hosting Marian on Saturday.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 154 NAIA All-America honors and 501 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
