Marian downs Huntington 2-0 in the semis of the CL tourney

Huntington, Ind. – The top-seeded HU men's soccer team's bid for a conference tournament championship came to an end Saturday night after suffering a 2-0 loss to 4th-seeded Marian in the semifinals of the Crossroads League tournament at King Stadium.

It's the second time in less than two weeks the two squads clashed with the first time, the regular season finale, ending in a 2-2 stalemate. With this loss, the Foresters drop to 13-5-2 and now lie in wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

It was a dog fight from start to finish as evidenced by both teams piling up 14 fouls. MU proved the aggressors having fired off twice as many shots as their hosts, 15-7, with nine on frame to HU's four. The Knights scored 12 minutes in and then added an insurance goal in the 76th minute enroute to the upset and their third shutout of the year.

The Knights (14-3-3) are on to the finals to face 6th-seeded Spring Arbor who upset second-seeded Grace 2-1 earlier tonight. The championship match is set for Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Indianapolis.
