Moore earns NFCA region honors after standout season
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Junior standout Gena Moore added another accolade to her impressive resume earlier this week, being named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region Five Second Team. The recognition places her among the top first basemen in the region.
Moore capped off a stellar season with multiple honors, including a First Team All-League selection and the Gold Glove award as the league's top defensive first baseman. Offensively, she dominated the stat sheet, finishing as Huntington's batting champion with a .410 average.
The Winchester native also led the Foresters with 68 hits and a team-high 40 RBI.
Behind Moore's leadership, HU closed out the season with a 33-18-1 record, marking the second-most wins in program history. The Foresters secured third place in the Crossroads League standings with a 22-13-1 conference record.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 160 NAIA All-America honors and 567 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
