Foresters downed by IU Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. – The Huntington women's soccer team came up short, 3-0, against IU Kokomo Tuesday night under the lights at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. With this loss, the Foresters drop to 2-5 on the year.

The Cougars lurched ahead 2-0 by halftime and then added an insurance goal late in the game to shutout their hosts and improve to 3-1-2.

After being outshot 8-4 through the first 45 minutes, Lewis' crew stepped up their intensity in the second frame to log nine shots to IUK's eight but was never able to reap the benefit of it. Paige Weiss topped HU with six shots, half of which were on frame.

Savannah Grove and Tara Robinson split time in goal for the Foresters.

"I am proud that the team stayed within our style of play," said Coach David Lewis. "The score may indicate a loss but we built another layer on a solid foundation. Freshmen keepers Tar and Savannah both did well sharing the net."

Huntington is back on the road on Thursday to face IU East at 5:00 p.m.
