MVNU scores late to top HU 2-0

HUNTINGTON, Ind.  – Senior Day didn't go as hoped for the HU women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at King Stadium. In addition to battling inclement weather, the Foresters of greater significance suffered a 2-0 loss to Mount Vernon (7-4-3, 4-1-1).

Through the first half and well into the second frame, both teams were on the prowl for any sort of breakthrough with Savannah Zambory finally cracking Huntington's defense to put the game's first points on the board with 18 minutes remaining. The junior midfielder added an insurance goal seven minutes later with a bomb well outside the box to seal the deal.

MVNU outshot the Foresters 10-2 with Ireland Aerni posting three saves in goal for Lewis' crew. The Cougars also owned the corner kick tilt 9-0.

With the loss, HU drops to 6-7-1 overall which includes a 2-4 record in CL action. The Foresters have a week off before playing at Grace on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
