Foresters wrap up weekend with shutout over Goshen

HUNTINGTON, Ind.  – After upsetting #RV Taylor 3-1 last night, the HU volleyball team celebrated another win Saturday afternoon against Goshen. This time, the Foresters needed just three sets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17, to wrap up their 2-0 weekend.

It's Huntington's sixth sweep of the year and their tenth straight win over the Leafs, a streak that started back in 2018.

The final stats tell today's story as HU outhit their visitors 35-21, finished with nine fewer hitting errors, out blocked their visitors 8-6 and posted ten aces to GC's three.

Maisyn Robrock led a balanced attack with nine kills. Haley Kruse did a little bit of everything for her team by tallying eight kills, nine digs and four aces. Kortney Grimm also added eight kills. Morgan Robrock had an active day with 26 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Leah Carter made her presence known at the net having put down five kills to go along with 2.5 snuffs.

Trolling the backline was Layla Meyer and Makailah Thompson who finished with ten and eight digs respectively.

"Goshen was consistently taken sets off of teams in our conference, so I'm grateful for how we got today's match done in three," noted Coach Kelsey Herber. "We knew our blocking discipline was going to be crucial for our success today, and I thought we executed that part of the game plan well."

The Foresters boast a 12-6 overall record which includes a 3-4 CL record. Next up is a trip to Bethel on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the #15 Pilots.
