Mount Vernon Too Much For Huntington

Huntington, Ind.- The Foresters volleyball team got off to a strong start in a matchup with #22 Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Platt Arena before being blanked 3-0. HU jumped out to an early 4-1 lead and gave the Cougars a battle in the opening set where neither team led by more than three points . The Foresters took a 21-19 advantage late before the Cougars pounced to snatch the opening set from HU.  
 
Mount Vernon (15-0, 3-0) would maintain a lead throughout the remainder of the match to win the second set 25-19 and dominate the third set 25-8.  Trevyn Terry led the offensive attack with nine kills on just 13 attempts while also assisting on four blocks. Layla Meyer had 19 digs on the night while Lauren Ross had 13 digs and 21 assists.

"I love the way we competed in the first set, and I thought Trevyn Terry played an exceptional match," said Coach Kelsey Herber. "Keila Garton was a spark off the bench, and Layla Meyer played strong defense."
 
Huntington (9-5, 1-2) will look to regroup on Saturday when they host Taylor University at 3:00 p.m. in Platt Arena.
