Foresters Cruise Past Goshen For Herber’s 100th Career Win 

Huntington, Ind. – The Huntington volleyball team made quick work of Goshen on Wednesday night inside Platt Arena, sweeping the Maple Leafs (25-18, 25-15, 25-8) to mark head coach Kelsey Herber's 100th career win at the helm of the Forester program.

"Coaching this team is one of God's greatest gifts in my life," declared a victorious coach Kelsey Herber. "To have my team celebrate my 100th win in such an intentional way means more than they'll ever know. I love them dearly and I'm honored to be their coach and know their hearts."

It was a night of milestones for HU. Senior libero Layla Meyer reached a major career mark with her 2,000th career dig—coming on her seventh of the night, while junior setter Lauren Ross was recognized for recently reaching 1,000 career assists. Meyer finished with nine digs overall, while Ross dished out 24 assists on the night. 

"Coaching Layla and Lauren is an honor. They make a beautiful impact on this program with who they are as both players and people," Herber noted.  "I'm so proud of them for their statistical milestones. They are easy to celebrate!"

HU's offense was sharp from start to finish, hitting an impressive .380 as a team while steadily building momentum throughout the match. The Foresters capped the evening with a dominant third set, hitting .440 while holding the Maple Leafs to single digits.

Balanced attacking led the way for Huntington (23-6, 11-5 CL). Leah Carter and Maisyn Robrock each tallied a match-high nine kills, hitting .571 and .400, respectively. Carter also added three blocks for 10.5 points on the night. Haley Kruse contributed eight kills and two service aces, while Maggie Hollon (7 kills, .312) and Ross (4 kills) rounded out a complete team effort.

Defensively, the Foresters were steady with 39 digs, led by Ross's 13, Olivia Krahn's 10, and Meyer's nine. At the net, HU combined for 10 team blocks, highlighted by Robrock and Carter's three apiece.

Herber becomes the third coach in program history to reach triple-digit wins, joining Mike Swan (249 wins, 1986–1994) and Dave Schroeder (241 wins, 1996–2010). Herber's leadership has been marked by passion, integrity, and grace from the very beginning, rooted in her desire to equip her players to discover their identity in Christ both on and off the court. The Foresters are demonstrating that true success means winning on the court and doing so with integrity and a Christ-like spirit.

"I am proud of how we not only finished the match in three sets, but also dictated the tempo of the match and executed our game plan as well," said Herber. "Every match plays a role in our training for what we want to accomplish this season."

Huntington will close out regular-season play with road matches at Grace on Saturday and Spring Arbor next Wednesday. The Foresters have already secured a home match in the Crossroads League Tournament and currently sit in third place, one game ahead of Taylor.
